If you’re looking for pretty places to eat in Athens, look no further than Ellyz Café.

It’s a floral wonderland that looks like it’s been plucked from the pages of a fairytale.

Everything about this café is pink. The decor, the plates, the gift shop and even the coffee and cakes are pink!

It’s every girl’s dream come true and will make you feel like a princess. It’s easily one of the most Instagrammable places in the city.

Here is what it’s like to dine inside Ellyz Café Athens and whether it’s worth visiting.

Introducing Ellyz Café

Ellyz Café was founded in 2019 and quickly went viral on social media for its sumptuous pink interiors.

They were the first café to serve pink coffee in Athens, which quickly became popular.

Their success has led to Ellyz becoming a franchise and now they have three pretty cafés in Monastiraki, Glyfada and Chalandri.

All of them are gorgeous inside but they pride themselves on serving the highest quality artisan food.

It’s the perfect place if you’re looking for brunch, coffee, cake or cocktails in a fairytale setting.

I have seen this café on my social media feeds for years and was so excited to finally visit.

A pink floral wonderland

You’ll know when you arrive at Ellyz Café in Plaka as the two pink buildings are covered with blossoms, roses, peonies and bougainvillaeas.

The café entrance has a huge floral arch in a heart shape which makes an amazing photo opportunity.

There’s also lots of quaint outdoor seating with white marble tables and pink cushions.

If you thought the outside was pretty, wait until you peek inside. All of the walls are bursting with rose garlands, hanging blossoms and neon signs.

I gasped when I walked in and couldn’t believe the whimsical and enchanting interiors.

There were marble tables with blush velvet seats and even a library filled with pink books!

As I arrived at the opening time I grabbed the flower booth with the ‘inspire’ neon sign. It was so gorgeous.

What is on the Ellyz Café menu?

Ellyz has a huge menu of cute drinks and sweet or savoury food options.

Most people visit Ellyz for brunch and they have a range of egg dishes and toast. Some of these are even served with pink hollandaise sauce.

There are sandwiches, ‘sando’ and healthy bowls with fruits and pink yoghurt.

For a heartier lunch option, you can find a range of colourful salads, pink pasta dishes and burgers.

If you prefer something sweet, Ellyz has pancake stacks, macarons, and all sorts of pink heart-shaped cakes.

They are famous for their coffee and I was super excited to order one of their signature pink coffees and hot chocolates.

If you don’t like coffee, there is a menu of artisan teas, juice, milkshakes, smoothies and alcoholic cocktails.

Whatever you choose, you can be sure that everything will look elegant and well-presented but also of the highest quality and taste.

Pink drinks and sweet treats

I originally wanted to order one of their heart-shaped cinnamon buns but as these were cooked fresh they weren’t going to be ready for an hour or so.

I then decided to order their ‘Choco Pan’ which was a cute heart-shaped pancake stack!

It was served on a chic pink plate with milk chocolate praline sauce, pink almond crumble, KitKat chocolate and a pansy on top.

I paired my pancakes with one of their pink drinks and decided to go with their Pink Hot Chocolate.

This was delicious and creamy topped with Viennese whipped cream, pink sprinkles and a heart-shaped marshmallow.

Everything looked almost too good to eat and a meal fit for a princess.

After I took lots of photos (obviously), I tucked into my treats and it was delectable.

I was utterly stuffed with all the chocolate but had absolutely zero complaints!

Is Ellyz Café expensive?

Compared to other cafés in Athens and throughout Greece, Ellyz Café can seem expensive.

For coffee and cake for one person, you’re looking to pay anything from €15 – €20 (excluding tips). My meal came to around €18.

Saying this, I visited a few themed cafés in Athens, and they all had a similar pricing model.

You’re paying for the enchanting experience as a whole which includes storybook scenery, a pink artisan menu and photo opportunities.

I loved my experience as the staff were friendly, the interiors were stunning and the food was pretty but also delicious.

I found it was great value for money as I left with priceless travel memories.

Is Ellyz Café worth visiting?

Yes, Ellyz Café is worth visiting as it’s one of the pinkest and prettiest cafés in all of Athens.

Not only will you dine in a fairytale setting but all of their dishes and drinks are beautiful too.

It’s also filled with incredible photo and video opportunities which are perfect to post to your socials.

Don’t skip Ellyz Café in Athens, it’s a floral wonderland you cannot miss!

Should you make a reservation?

Similar to most cafés in Athens, it’s not possible to make a reservation at Ellyz Café.

It’s a case of showing up and waiting for a table to become free on your visit.

It’s a very popular café for its pink aesthetics so lines can be long, especially in summer and on weekends.

My advice would be to arrive at opening time. I did this and got the first choice of seating.

How to get to Ellyz Café in Athens?

Ellyz Café is now a franchise in Greece with locations in Plaka, Chalandri and The Athens Mall.

The original Ellyz Café is located near Monastiraki Square on Agiou Fillipou. This is close to the entrance of the Ancient Agora of Athens.

Athens is a very walkable city so it’s easy to arrive on foot. It’s a good job as most of the area surrounding this café is pedestrianised.

If you’d prefer to take public transport you can alight at Monastiraki metro or bus stop and then walk for a couple of minutes to the café.

Taxi apps like Uber and FreeNow also work well in Athens and use local taxi services. You can get dropped off on Ermou Road opposite Karaiskaki.

Opening hours

Ellyz Café is open from 9 am to 12 am throughout the week except Saturdays when it’s open until 1 am.

It’s quite normal for cafés in Athens to remain open until really late as they sell desserts and cocktails which are popular with both locals and tourists.

This means there’s plenty of time to visit, even if you only have one day in Athens.

Are you looking for more things to do in Athens?

There are plenty of incredible things to do in Athens alongside visiting pretty cafés.

I wouldn’t leave without visiting the mighty Acropolis. This is the name for the lofty hill that can be all over the city skyline.

It’s one of the best preserved ancient Greek monuments in existence and dates back to the 5th century BC.

Filopappou Hill Athens Greece

Your entrance ticket allows you to visit all of the attractions on the hill.

This includes the Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion and the Propylaea.

I would book your tickets well in advance via the official website and pick the 8 am time slot to avoid long queues and crowds.

Erechtheion Athens greece

Also, entering via the gate at the Southern Slope is best for shorter queues.

You can also stroll by the Theatre of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on the way up.

If you buy a combination ticket, you also get access to five more historic sites.

These include gems such as the Ancient Agora of Athens, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Roman Agora etc.

Plaka is a beautiful area with a plethora of restaurants, bars and shops as well as views under the Acropolis.

Speaking of incredible views, you should visit some of the rooftop bars in Monastiraki Square like A is for Athens, MS Rooftop and Attic Urban Rooftop.

Or, head to Syntagma Square to see the National Gardens and the Changing of the Guard ceremony in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Plus, no visit would be complete without a hike or funicular ride up Lycabettus Hill to see panoramic views over the ancient city.
