It’s a magical café filled with whimsical decor that will transport you to another realm.
You can sip on colourful cocktails and indulge in artisan desserts surrounded by an enchanting pink setting fit for royalty.
The entire restaurant has been designed for photography so be sure to have your camera ready.
As someone obsessed with fairytales and fantasy worlds, I knew I just had to visit.
Here is a complete review of Fairytale Athens and whether it’s worth visiting!
What is Fairytale Athens?
Fairytale Athens is a café that will transport you to another world of whimsical wonder.
It feels like you have tumbled down the rabbit hole into the pages of a fairytale as every room has been decorated with enchantment in mind.
It’s a pink fairyland that serves up curious cocktails, cute cupcakes and scrumptious savoury dishes.
You can visit for brunch, dinner, coffee, cake or sip a few cocktails in the evening.
Fairytale has been created with Instagram in mind so there will be plenty of photo opportunities while you dine.

The most Instagrammable place in Athens
You’ll instantly know you’ve arrived at Fairytale Athens in Psyrri as the building is painted in the most vibrant shade of pink.
You’ll find a stunning pink bubble display outside and Card Soldiers welcoming you in.
But, nothing could have prepared me for the enchanting interiors of this café.
Here are all of the magical rooms you can choose in Fairytale Athens.

The Jungle Room
I gasped when I first entered Fairytale Athens as the first room you’ll see is the Jungle Room.
It’s a huge green space with jungle wallpaper, zebra butterflies, hanging stars, enormous mushrooms and hanging foliage.
They had an ‘Alice in Fairyland’ theme on my visit so I could also see some of the Queen of Hearts Card Soldiers.
This room has several large booths to sit in if you’re a bigger group.

Pink Swans Room
My favourite room had to be the Pink Swans Room which had an enchanting pastel pink theme with roses and peonies.
Pink velvet chairs and marble tables lined the wall that was adorned with all sorts of pink flowers and a ‘God…Save the Cinderella’ sign.
The ceiling had lots of hanging flower garlands with Alice in Wonderland playing cards, the Mad Hatters’ top hats and clocks.

But, the best part is their pink swan display at the end with crowned swans, hanging pearls, butterflies, flowers, flamingos and a giant teddy bear.
Lots of people love to get a photo with this beautiful stand and nearly everyone sits on it!

Flamingo Room
If you head up the stairs or the elevator, you’ll arrive in the Pink Flamingo Room.
It packs a punch and makes an overwhelming impression with all the hot pink and fuchsia decor. It was so Barbie and I was head over heels in love!
There were leopard print seats and flamingo booths with pink wicker tables.
The room has huge flamingo statues, pink hanging flowers and magenta neon signs.
They even had a Mad Hatters’ Tea Room reserved for private tea parties and events.

In keeping with the Alice in Fairyland theme, you could find lots of framed photos and playing cards.
I especially loved all the hanging signs with ‘Welcome to Fairyland’. It was a photographer’s dream come true as everything was beautiful.
Don’t forget to take a photo with their pink angel wings by the stairs!

What is on the Fairytale Athens menu?
If you think the whimsy interiors are amazing, you will be happy to know that their menu matches the fairytale vibe.
Every page has gorgeous romantic artwork, inspiring quotes and plenty of magical items to order.
They have a vast artisan coffee menu including pink and blue lattes and cappuccinos with a fairy aesthetic.
There’s also a whole range of teas and you can order pots of Unicorn’s Tears and Dragon’s Breath.
You can indulge in one of their ‘fairyshakes’ or hot chocolates named after Disney princesses.
There is a whole menu of creative cocktails and mocktails to order for a Happily Ever After.

As it was quite early in the morning, I ordered a ‘Prince Charming Mocktail’ which was pink and had a great mix of tropical flavours.
I paired my mocktail with Bell’s Isphahan which was a French macaroon with cream and strawberries. It was light, fruity and delicious.
It came with a ‘dry ice effect’ which was so magical and there was a little commotion when it was served that you can film!
They have an entire range of cakes fit for royalty including waffles, pancake stacks, cakes and ice cream sundaes.
If you want something more substantial they have a brunch menu that is served until 6 pm.
They have Cinderella’s French Toast menu, Sleeping Beauty’s Pancake offerings and a savoury menu based on Jack and the Bean Stalk.
The menu seems endless and you’ll probably have a hard time choosing what to order as everything sounds so good.
It’s not a cheap menu for Athens but you’re paying for the gorgeous aesthetics.
Whatever you choose you can be sure that the presentation will be beautiful but it will also taste delectable. It’s not style over substance.

Fairytale Retail
As well as all of the stunning rooms and creative cuisine, Fairytale Athens has its own cake and retail shop.
They sell all sorts of sweet treats to take away like custom-made cakes, macaroons and cupcakes.
Plus, there is an entire range of custom candles, wine glasses, mugs, teddy bears and aromatherapy items.
It’s not the cheapest boutique but everything looked so pretty and high quality.
I had my eyes on this gold swan spoon holder that was just so extra! But, I had limited room in my suitcase *sigh*.

Is Fairytale Athens worth visiting?
Yes, I visited many beautiful and themed cafés in Athens but Fairytale was up there as one of my favourites.
It’s not the cheapest place to dine but you’re paying for the enchanting setting.
I think my mocktail and cake came to around €18 (excluding a tip) which I thought was standard in a place like this.
The decor is astounding and will honestly take your breath away and there are also lots of gorgeous photo opportunities to take advantage of.

The staff are also really lovely and welcoming! They took most of my photos for me as I was by myself.
It is one of the most magical places to eat in Athens and I would go back in a heartbeat.
Don’t skip Fairytale Athens, it will allow you to escape reality and step into a fantasy.

How to get to Fairytale Athens
There are three Fairytale cafés in Athens but the most famous branch is centrally located in the neighbourhood of Psyrri.
Athens is a very walkable city and so it’s very easy to arrive on foot.
You can easily walk here from Plaka, Monastiraki Square, the Ancient Agora of Athens and Kerameikos Archaeological Site.
If you’re not walking you can take the bus to St. Incorporeal or St. Hesap Thisius stations and walk there. Uber and taxi apps also work in Athens.
There are also two other branches in Nea Philadelphia and Chalandri.
However, these are both in the far northern suburbs of the city so plan your travels accordingly.

Opening hours
The most famous Fairytale Athens in Psyrri is open from 9 am to midnight every day.
Nea Philadelphia is open from 10 am to midnight and Chalandri is open from 10 am to 11 pm. Sometimes hours change on weekends.
It’s not necessary to get there for opening time as there’s always lots of seating throughout the day.
However, I found it was pretty much empty at 9 am so it was easier to get empty photos and respect other diners’ privacy.
You also don’t need to make a reservation. However, they do have phone numbers you can call to try and make one if you prefer!
